How is a drone survey different from walking the field?

A single flight covers the whole block in about twenty minutes, depending on size. The multispectral sensor records reflectance in bands the eye cannot see, so stress patterns show up before they become visible. Walking the field still matters for ground truthing, but the aerial pass gives you the full picture first.

What do the vegetation index maps actually tell me?

NDVI and related indices translate plant reflectance into a colour scale from weak to vigorous growth. A patch of low values usually points to water stress, nutrient shortage, or early pest damage. The map is a starting point: we overlay it with soil moisture data and your sowing dates to separate one cause from another.

Do I need to prepare the field before a flight?

No special preparation is required. We just need a clear take-off spot and permission to fly over the boundary. If you have a recent field map or GPS corners of the plots, share them beforehand so the flight plan covers the right area without extra passes.

How soon after the flight do I get the report?

The raw images are processed the same day. You receive a short summary within 24 hours, and the full report with index maps and recommendations within two working days. For urgent cases, we can send a preliminary alert about any critical stress zones within a few hours.

Can the service work for small plots, not just large farms?

Yes. The flight plan adapts to the shape and size of your field, whether it is two acres or two hundred. For smaller plots, we combine neighbouring fields into one route to keep the cost reasonable. The resolution stays the same, so you still get the detail you need.

What happens after I receive the recommendations?

You get a clear action list: which zones need irrigation, where to apply fertiliser, and which patches to inspect for pests. If you want, we can schedule a follow-up flight in two to three weeks to check whether the changes worked. That second pass is what turns a single survey into a monitoring routine.

Since the first test flight over a mustard field near Jodhpur, we have built a service around scheduled surveys, clear vegetation maps, and practical advice that farmers can act on the same week.

2019 - First Field Trials

Our team flew a prototype drone over a 12-acre mustard plot in Rajasthan, testing how multispectral readings held up in dry, dusty conditions. The trial revealed that standard NDVI maps needed local calibration for Indian soil and sunlight, so we adjusted the sensor settings before offering the service publicly.

2020 - Scheduled Survey Service Launches

We moved from one-off flights to a subscription model where farmers receive a survey every two weeks during the growing season. Each report includes a vegetation index map, a soil moisture estimate, and a short list of field-specific recommendations. The first season covered 40 farms across three districts.

2021 - Soil Moisture Tracking Added

After repeated requests from growers dealing with uneven irrigation, we integrated thermal imaging into our standard package.
